Dogo Argentino “Morocho” saves 2 young girls from Puma attack

A dog named Morocho took his responsibility as guardian so seriously that he sprung into action to beat off a dangerous Puma. The wildcat was following his human sister and her companion as they collected figs from a tree on their family property.

The afternoon began with the Martines family spending time on their farm with a few friends. After some time spent enjoying one other’s company, their daughter Sophie and her friend Yoli decided to visit the fig trees across the land. Yoli’s favorite fruit is figs, and she knew precisely where to obtain them.

Fortunately, the duo did not flee alone. Morocho, the family’s Argentine Dogo, accompanied them on their journey.

The girls knew that the best figs would be located at the top of the trees because it wasn’t their first time foraging for them. So, without hesitation, Yoli began climbing in search of the tastiest fruits. They heard sounds from high up in the trees as she ascended. It was later revealed that Yoli was not the only one who had opted to climb that specific tree.

Sophie and Yoli had been observed by a puma sitting in the top trees. The puma is one of South America’s biggest predators and might have easily harmed or killed both girls.

Fear got the best of Yoli as she attempted to descend the branches, and she lost her balance. She landed flat on her back after falling to the ground. But she didn’t stay there long, and both girls rushed as fast as they could back to their family.

They shouted as they rushed back into the farm’s heart, with a puma hard on their tail. Morocho didn’t think twice about going on the offensive to protect his pack mates.

Assuming the ruckus was caused by a snake, Yoli’s father dashed towards the girls’ shouts. He discovered Morocho unconscious on the ground, having suffered significant injuries. Fortunately, he was still alive. The puma, on the other hand, did not fare as well. Its decomposing body was close.

The Dogo Argentino, also known as the Argentinian Mastiff or the Argentine Dogo, is an Argentine breed created largely to demonstrate the strength, power, and bravery necessary for big-game hunting. They are big, strong, and athletic, but they’re also recognized for being gentle protectors who are “lovey-dovey” with their family.
