Senior Pit Bull Cried For A Year At Shelter Until Family Returned For Her

For a year, Jada, a Pit Bull mix, had been confused, terrified, and alone. Deborah Warren, her mother, was filled with grief after her father died, making it difficult for her to keep a normal routine. As a result, Warren had to make the difficult decision to surrender Jada to a shelter in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. She quickly regretted her decision, but by the time she felt more stable, it was too late. Jada was at a closed animal shelter, which meant euthanasia for a Pit Bull breed like Jada. For months, Jada’s previous family assumed she was gone for good until a Facebook post aroused their curiosity.

When Jada’s shelter closed, Northshore Humane Society rescued her and seven other dogs. The team knew it would be difficult to rehome an 11-year-old Pit Bull, but they were determined to make it work. They were all taken by Jada’s sweet personality and expected her to find a permanent family quickly.

Weeks, on the other hand, swiftly turned into months. Before they realized it, Jada had been with them for over a year. In order to assist the pup find a home, the organization has released a number of photographs and videos. They even tried unsuccessfully to air a news article about her.

Jada was clearly unhappy in the shelter. She would weep whenever humans passed by her kennel. Employees tried to make her feel more at ease by letting her to work behind the front desk throughout the day and even providing her with a temporary foster home, but nothing worked. Jada waited, her anguish growing with each passing day.

Then, one particular video changed Jada’s life. The staff created a touching TikTok video and shared it extensively on social media. Jada is shown sobbing and pleading for a place to reside. That was the footage that sparked Jada’s old family’s interest.

They’ve finally reunited!

For a year, Jada’s family assumed she was dead. Warren felt bad and mourned her decision to give up Jada every day. Because mourning is so difficult, it compelled her to make a decision she would not have made otherwise. When her extended relatives saw Jada on Facebook, they couldn’t believe their eyes. Jada had made it!

“Oh my God, it’s her,” Warren shouted, “and we both burst out crying.”

Warren’s son, Josh LaBarge, and his family agreed to adopt Jada in order for her to be raised in a loving home. They adored Jada and were devastated when Warren abandoned her. As a result, LaBarge, his wife, and their 10-year-old daughter drove several hours to pick up and return Jada. Warren, of course, joined her so she could see the cute dog again.

Jada’s face lit up when she saw the familiar faces at the shelter. She ran to her family, wagging her tail. She knew she was finally at home. Her days of wailing at the shelter were over.

The thought of Jada leaving pushed the shelter workers to tears, but they were also delighted that she had achieved the joyful ending she deserved. The Northshore Humane Society is a big advocate of second chances, so they were overjoyed when Jada’s family welcomed her back. It’s not the same without her father, but at least she’s surrounded by people who cherish her.
