With a note from his owner explaining that she was forced to leave him behind, an abandoned puppy was discovered alone at the airport

At McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, a security guard discovered Chewy, a three-month-old Chihuahua. He was left inside a toilet at the airport.

It appears that Chewy’s owner was escaping an abusive situation. Sadly, his owner was unable to accompany him on her flight, so she made the decision to leave Chewy with a letter in the hopes that someone kind would come across him.

Chewy had suffered a head injury and required emergency medical care. The airport employees contacted Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue, a nearby non-profit organization with a foster-based program, to assist him.

Thankfully, the rescue organization took Chewy in, and he was taken to an urgent care facility for animals. Senior and special needs dogs are accepted by Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue (CMDR), which cares for them while trying to find them permanent homes.

Today, Gilliam wonders how many other owners and pets are currently victims of domestic violence and are trapped in abusive relationships. Now, to help those in abusive situations, she shares Chewy’s story to show that victims can find a safe haven at CMDR.
